After spending a relaxing weekend in Byron Bay there's nothing like a FREAK HAIL STORM to start things off. On our way back we were nailed by this golf ball sized hail storm, causing about $2000 worth of cracked winshield and dents to Jules' mom's car (thank goodness for hail damage coverage). The highway was complete carnage, with heaps of cars having their back windows totally blown out, cracked/busted windows/windshields, etc. etc. I considered ourselves fortunate. Lots of houses were damaged, and Surfer's Paradise happened to have their annual Indy race going on at the time, which had to be called off early because of the inclement weather. What kind of country is this place???
