From this vantage point, you can make out how the trail dips down and goes to the left. What you can't see is that there is an alternate trail that leads off to right after the small lakes. The trail to the right leads to the huts and continues the circuit, where as the trail to the left is to complete the day-hike crossing; I went right, which immediately reduced to the small number of fellow hikers down to one: me. For the rest of the time I would not see a single person on the trail while hiking, although there were 4 other hikers in the hut that I stayed in.
